Description
Relationships between the structures and properties of materials, with emphasis on bioengineering and biomedical applications. Design of materials with predetermined set of properties. Overview of biomaterials, classes of materials used in medicine and brief introduction to material structures. Introduction to fundamental concepts of materials properties. Mechanical and structural properties of metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites. Electrical, optical, and magnetic properties and materials processing. Selection of materials and design considerations for bioengineering applications.
