Description
This course examines the Lyric and Elegiac genres from Greece (700 BCE) to Imperial Rome (100 CE). Authors such as Archilochus, Sappho, Alcaeus, Callimachus, Catullus, Propertius and Ovid will be situated in their social and historical contexts as the class addresses issues of poetics, politics, sexuality, and culture.
