Description
This course will survey foundational texts and thinkers in critical social theory, as they relate to the fields of media and communication studies. This will include core texts in Marxism, the Frankfurt School, public sphere theory, feminism, post-structuralism, post-colonialism and queer theory. The course will prepare students with key theoretical and conceptual vocabularies for advanced study in the field.
- Prerequisite(s): COMS 210 or COMS 230
- Students must also register for COMS 301J2 and COMS 301J3
- No credit will be given for this course unless COMS 301J1, COMS 301J2 and COMS 301J3
- COMS 301J1, COMS 301J2 and COMS 301J3 are equivalent to COMS 301
