Description
This course provides an introduction to the history, aesthetics, and social impact of manga, or Japanese comics, exploring production, distribution and reception within Japan as well as transnational fan communities, translation, and adaptation (to television, animation, and cinema).
- Prerequisites: An Introductory 200 level course in media, art, Japanese culture or equivalent.
- Restrictions: Not open to students who have taken EAST 299 or ARTH 319.
