Description

China's martial tradition; themes such as war, revenge, justice, and the use of violence, alongside martial arts. Topics include: philosophical discourses on war, literary nationalism, and representations of these themes in literature, film, digital media, and games. Spanning from the 6th century BCE to the 20th century, the key periods and genres of Chinese literature and martial traditions beyond popular media.
  • Prerequisites: Recommended: EAST 211
  • Restrictions: Not open to students who have taken EAST 453 when topic was "The Martial Tradition in Chinese Literature and Culture".
