Description
Introduction to key themes in contested cities and urbana ctivism, including struggles for LGBTQ communities; racial, gender, and environmental justice, anti- gentrification movements, and contestations over the use of roads and public spaces. How urban geographers and other academics working in urban fields merge scholarship and activism. A hands-on component that focuses on fieldwork skills and direct engagement with communities.
- Prerequisites: GEOG 217 or permission of the instructor.
