Description

Transcription, identification, and production of speech sounds, with a focus on sounds that are relevant to the Indigenous language(s) of study. Introduction to the articulation of speech sounds, acoustic analysis of speech, and orthography versus transcription. Applications of phonetics for practical use in speaking, comprehension, and writing Indigenous languages.
  • Language(s) of focus may vary depending on instructor.
