Description

Grammatical properties of Canadian Indigenous languages, focusing on sounds and the sound systems (phonetics and phonology), word formation(morphology), sentence structure and meaning (syntax and semantics), as wellas language in use (discourse and pragmatics), and the applications of these topics to language description, documentation, and language pedagogy.
  • Prerequisites: Either two of: LING 211, LING 315, LING 330, LING 331, LING 371; or intermediate to advanced proficiency in an Indigenous language of North America.
