Description

A survey of the development of jazz from its late 19th-century origins in America to the present day, with an introduction to musical concepts relevant to the genre and consideration of sociocultural issues.
  • MUAR 201 or MUAR 211 or MUTH 101 or MUHL 211 or permission of the instructor.
  • Restrictions: Open to all undergraduate students except those in a B.Mus. or L.Mus. program; not open to students who have taken MUAR 393.
  • 3 hours
