Study Abroad and Field Studies for Arts Students

Enrolling in select courses for a term or two at another university is an opportunity to enrich your undergraduate degree and to provide you with a chance for personal growth. A term or year abroad takes planning and must first be approved by the Faculty of Arts. Be sure to carefully read about the various types of study abroad opportunities and regulations for Faculty of Arts undergraduate students on the Arts OASIS Study Abroad page:

  • Bilateral student exchanges
  • Independent Study Abroad (ISA)
  • Studies at another Quebec University (IUT, or Inter-University Transfer)
  • Online courses
  • Summer J'Explore program

Arts OASIS reserves the right to refuse to award McGill transfer credit for any studies completed at another university for the following conditions:

  • If these studies were not pre-approved by Arts OASIS.
  • If the host school or any of its courses fails to meet the Arts OASIS study away policies or McGill's program or degree requirements.
  • If the request involves study abroad organizations or companies which act as intermediaries.
  • If the request involves courses offered as part of “intensive” or otherwise condensed university/college program (e.g., Summer intensive programs, International Summer School initiatives, etc.).
