Description

Fundamentals and applications of elasticity theory and thermoelasticity. Introduction to plasticity, viscoelasticity, fracture mechanics, fatigue, and creep, as well as concepts of composite materials. Introduction to material testing methods for characterizing mechanical behaviour. Applied stress analysis techniques with emphasis on the finite element method.
  • Prerequisite: CIVE 207
  • Restrictions: Not open to students who have taken or are taking MECH 321 or MECH 416.
