Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate students of the Schulich School of Music must meet the following conditions:
- The successful completion of all courses and proficiency requirements as specified in the candidate's program is required to meet graduation requirements. Students registered in multiple programs must fulfill the requirements for each individual program. A minimum grade of C (or higher, depending on the program) must be achieved in all required courses, prerequisite and corequisite courses. A grade of D (non-continuation pass) is acceptable only in elective courses that are not prerequisite or corequisite to other required courses in the program.
- Students must attain a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 in order to graduate from a Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.) or a Licentiate in Music (L.Mus.).
- For students with advanced standing and/or transfer credits, they are required to earn a minimum of credits in residence at McGill University (B.Mus.: 60 credits, L.Mus.: 48 credits) in order to be eligible to graduate.
Students must apply to graduate in order to receive a diploma and graduation notation on their transcripts.
Graduation Honours
Graduation honours may include the Dean's Honour List or Distinction. Outstanding Achievement may also be granted in recognition of superior performance on an instrument or voice or in an academic discipline. Refer to the Graduation Honours page for more information.
